If rest is necessary, laziness is not always a gift, it is often a torment. Yet, in a world dominated by efficiency and productivity, this can become a creative and revolutionary resource.
Matteo De Giuli will guide us in a reflection on idleness, from Ancient Greece to the Bible, from Marx to today.
With Salvatore Peluso we will delve into the theme of the growing ambiguity between work time and rest time in which even spaces are transformed: offices that embrace relaxation and beds that become workstations; discovering new rituals and practices born from hybridization.
Matthew DeGiuli is the editor-in-chief of Lucy On Culture. Writer and author, he has worked for Rai3, Radio3, Il Tascabile Treccani. He wrote “Buoni a nulla” (Quanti, Einaudi, 2022) and, with Nicolò Porcelluzzi, “MEDUSA” (Not, NERO editions, 2021).
Salvatore Peluso is a freelance journalist, educator and independent curator, active between Milan and Catania. In Milan he is also among the founders of the space “DOPO?”, a center for cultural work and shared recreation.
